The current president of Iran, Almadinejad said that 9/11 was a hoax. This is coming from the guy who also said that the Holocaust was a lie. I wonder where the 6 millions jews that were killed went to then? This man is a crackpot who doesn't know what he is talking about. If he stays in charge for much longer then I don't know what this world will come to. With a man like that with a nuclear arsinal, our world could be in for big trouble.

Euthanize Children?
Researchers from the Dana-Farber research institute of Boston discussed with parents whose children died of cancer the possibility of whether in retrospect, they would have sped up the process in which their children died. A startling number of the parents said they would because the worse thing was watching their children in immense pain. 34% of the parents said they would have sped up the process with an additional 24% said they discussed this with the caregiver.
I personally would speed up the process for my child because I think it would be unbareable to see my child in pain. Although this decision would be extremely hard, I think it would be better to put the child out of his or her pain.

The Machismo Leaving?
When the Dutch bobsledding captain, Tom de la Huntry decided that his four man bobsled team wouldn't compete in the Vancouver Olympics because of safety factors, it surprised everyone and especially his coach. After one of the first bobsledders died on the course on the first day of bobsledding, it put a kernel of doubt in the captains head that has grown over time. Huntry feels that he wouldn't be able to steer through turns 11, 12, and 13, he felt it wasn't worth the risk to the team in order to compete. Although his teammates were slightly upset, they understand competely and feel it isn't worth putting their lives at risk for a simple medal.
I understand competely when Tom de la Huntry didn't want to compete. I wouldn't be able to put my life in danger just for a small chance for a medal. The Dutch four man bobsled team is ranked 11th so there is just a slim chance that they would medal. I just hope that this decision doesn't come back to haunt the team captain.

The New Sports Doping?
After scientists decoded the human genome in 2004, they were able to identify genes that if modified or tweaked, would give any person a competitive edge. Since they are now able to identify these genes, it is possible for kids to have a cheek swab and scientists are able to see if they have a future in running or lifting. With this great discovery, scientists are now able to create a pill also known as the couch potato pill that will help to build muscle while they could potentially be sitting on the couch. This pill would make the average person extremely strong and give an athlete a huge competitive edge.
My opinion on this is that now that the human genome is mapped out, scientists might be able to fix horrible diseases such as parkinsons and alzheimers. However, as with any great inventions or discoveries, this has dire consequences such as the discovery of Tnt and the splitting of the atom. This discovery needs to be kept in check in order to let this great discovery to be used only for good!

Any Better!
This news story isn't like my typical posts, this story is about news yes, but about sports news. The Cleveland Cavaliers recently traded for Antawn Jamison and Sebastian Telfair to the Cavs, Drew Gooden to the Clippers, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Al Thornton, and Brian Skinner to the Washington Wizards. Although people aren't sure whether this move will help the Cavs get over the hump and beat the Lakers, I personally don't think that it will. This is just another ill advised move by Cavalier management upsetting team chemistry and just throwing money at the situation in order to get a ring.

The Snow
As everybody as seen I'm sure, there is a massive amount of snow outside on the ground. Cnn.com told about the amount of snow in Washington D.C. shutting down the government. I personally think this is a good thing because it gives officials a week off to look at how the economy is functioning and just take a step back. I hope more snow comes so it gives them even more time off

Accused Man Innocent
Today on Cnn.com I read an article talking about a man accused of rape in October 1994. Loretta thought she saw the man who raped her by the name of Dean and during the trail, her story helped the jury to convict the man to 40 years in jail. Since then, with DNA evidence, Dean was released from prison when it was shown it wasn't him. Loretta felt it was all her fault and hated the man because people were telling her how it was all her fault. Dean felt mad at Loretta for taking 14 years of his life away from him. They met on Dr. Phil and by this time Deans anger towards her had faded. Dr. Phil helped Loretta see how she shouldn't blame herself or Dean and to blame the man who actually attacked her. They are now close friends who helped the victims of an attack and the wrongfully accused come to terms with eachother.
I feel this is a good fell good story and shows how when people such as Dean forgive the accusers, they can do great things for numerous people. I personally would still be mad at Loretta for taking away 14 years of my life and I doubt I would be able to forgive her. This whole story shows how important DNA testing is.
